The company secretary must be a Hong Kong resident or a Hong Kong registered company. Significant Controllers Register (SCR)

The Government requires companies incorporated in Hong Kong to identify the persons who have significant control over them (significant controllers) and to maintain a register of significant controllers which is available for inspection by law enforcement officers upon request. At the same time, each company is required to designate a person to act as the company's representative to provide assistance to law enforcement officers on matters relating to the register of significant controllers.

The revised section is effective from March 1, 2018 and the relevant departments will have the opportunity to conduct random checks on each company at any time.
